Meet us in Gianyar, just 15-20min from Ubud. Your evening begins with a warm welcome from your guide before a sweet introduction to Bali’s favourite snack, klepon - chewy rice flour balls rolled in coconut and filled with a sweet surprise inside. We'll visit with the ladies who have been making these treats since the 80's.
After this, we step into the heart of the night market. We'll take in the sizzling sounds and mouthwatering aromas, and discover authentic Balinese dishes you won’t find in the tourist hotspots. Together, we’ll handpick a variety of meals to share for dinner, with plenty of options for vegans, vegetarians, and meat lovers!
Savour local specialties like babi guling (spit-roasted pork), ayam betutu (slow-cooked chicken with Balinese spices), pepes ikan (fish steamed in banana leaves) and veggie nasi campur (rice with vegetable sides, peanuts and spicy sambal). Along the way, we'll also pick up some jajan pasar (market snacks) such as smoky skewers of sate hot off the grill, and rujak fruit salad with a spicy dressing.
To close off thiwe will indulge in some must-try traditional desserts like bubur injin (creamy black rice pudding) or es daluman, a refreshing coconut milk drink with a caramel-like sweetness.
This night market tour is great for foodies as it serves a wide variety of Indonesian dishes and snacks. And it’s also a great way to experience Bali the way locals do: lively, flavourful, and full of community spirit.
