Foraging at the Farm
We start this foraging experience driving out of Ubud and into Bali’s lush jungle, where you’ll hand-pick wild herbs and edible plants while learning from a local farmer about their medicinal properties and traditional Balinese uses.
You’ll learn that everything grows in harmony with nature’s cycles and the unique way Balinese farmers understand what grows together naturally. This deep connection to the land brings a whole new appreciation to the ingredients you’ll forage and taste. This is a hands-on foraging experience in Bali is perfect for those who love to connect with nature and discover the origins of their food.
Fruit & Snack Tasting
We'll enjoy a tasting of local fruit grown on the farm such as salak (snakefruit), mangosteen, white mango, star fruit, and jackfruit, and coconut apples, depending on seasonality. The farmers will also prepare some traditional Balinese snacks like “piesang rai” (banana, sticky rice and coconut steamed in banana leaf) with freshly harvested palm syrup (straight from the tree). For those with a daring palate, there might be a surprise tasting that will challenge your adventurous side!
Dining at restaurant Herbivore by Locavore NXT, Ubud
Back in Ubud, you’ll be treated to an exquisite “all flora, no fauna” 5 course plant-based tasting menu at restaurant Herbivore with a non-alcoholic drink pairing. Dive into a wildly different experience, carefully crafted using the freshest and tastiest local flora, some of which you would have seen, picked and tasted earlier on the farm.
